SUP Cleanup is coming to Lake Norman. Grab your stand up paddle board, kayak, canoe, or other man powered watercraft and come help us clean up Lake Norman. We are fortunate to not have a major trash problem here on Lake Norman. But there are still some people that choose to toss their litter into the lake or leave it on the islands for it to be washed out into the water. This is especially noticeable when we get heavy rains. This is an awesome way to give back to our local resource that we love so much, and to show the community that we care. Our first cleanup will take place at the infamous sandbar on Lake Norman, known as beachin’ island. We will meet at 8am and paddle out to that area to begin cleanup. Gloves and bags will be provided. Bring your kids or pets along if you have room for them to ride with you.
Please e-mail Travis Bowers for more info, as the meeting place has yet to be determined. Stay tuned for more cleanup opportunities to come, including Mt. Island and the Catawba River/Lake Wylie areas in Charlotte and Mt Holly.
